Update by Kim
Well there were no April Fools Pranks today, with regards to Shannon. She is settled in at Magee and spent the day being evaluated so they know where she is starting so they can see where she needs to go. We were able to talk with several of her caregivers and others that are helping her for the next couple of months. Shannon was happy and seemed so at ease in her new place.

She's still practicing her breathing off ventilator, but also has been introduced to a couple of new therapy routines. Today she was also sitting upright in a chair and she said it was comfortable. It was good to see her smiling.

We won't be able to be with her for a long while and know it's for the best at this time. I've grown pretty used to being told no, so it doesn't sting like it used to. I learned that along with occupational, respiratory, and physical therapy; she will also have music, art, and horticultural therapy (fancy word for hanging out on the roof garden). I do get to go down once a week and pick up her laundry, wash it, and return it. And if I can't be with Shannon, at least I can hold her dirty clothes.......

This is now the really hard part of her recovery for everyone involved. This is when it gets real and not the rollercoaster of news about her condition changing daily/hourly. No more numbly walking through the days trying to keep it together. Now we have to keep it together and learn to live in a whole new lifestyle.

Shannon needs prayers for her continued healing in her spinal region, her brain, and for the mental and emotional stamina to take on the rehabilitation that she has going forward. Prayers for her family to be able to be the support that she needs as well as being able to care for their own emotional and mental strength.

Thank you all for your prayers and support. Please don't forget about us now.

  2. Kim and Lancer, I pray for Shannon's continued recovery and that you both find the strength and comfort you need to get through this. Please let Shannon know that she has a friend in Indiana pulling for her, and that she's beautiful and strong and loved by so many.

  3. My prayers continue daily. I saw this quote today and felt it most appropriate: Give God your weakness, and He'll give you His strength. I pray that Kim, Lancer, Shannon, Austin and the rest of the Seaman family will be filled with strength and peace that could only come from God. My God cover you with grace and mercy as you trust Him to care for you.
