Wood shop was always Shannon's favorite class in High School (Shout out to Mr. Nowak). She never made the normal projects that the other students made. While they were making puzzles, wall shelves, and step stools, Shannon was making Key Blades. Every Christmas we do a gift exchange within our family. You are assigned a person and you get to make them a gift (the clever name for this exchange is The Make-It Gift).  A couple years ago, Shannon had her nephew for the Make-it Gift. She decided he needed an Motorcycle Rocker. She just knew he needed to have his own set of wheels. It was pretty impressive!

Today, Shannon tried out a new set of wheels herself:

Again- I'm so impressed by Shannon. This was her FIRST try in a manual wheelchair. She's just killin' it!

Shannon also did her other therapies today. I didn't get an update today from anyone, so i don't have a lot to share.

Thank you, as always for the many prayers for Shannon. Please pray for her upper body to continue to strengthen, especially her core muscles; for her breathing and speech to continue to progress, for her spinal cord to heal and start making better connections with her nerves, for her blood pressure to regulate, and for her to have the endurance to continue with her therapies!

Meme for today:

And today's Disney quote(s):

Focus. Speed. I am Speed.
One winner, 42 losers. I eat losers for breakfast.

  1. Thank you for these daily updates! I have never met Shannon, but I lift her up in prayer each day, just as so many others are doing. I have particularly enjoyed this update because, as Katie Halka can attest, anyone who loves to build anything - particularly out of wood! - goes right to the top of my "favorites" list! Love that Motorcycle Rocker!!! Wow!!! I think Shannon would LOVE our machine shop here at work, so when this COVID-19 stuff has passed and Shannon is out of rehab, I will expect Katie and Austin to bring her to nth Solutions for a visit! Every blessing to Shannon and family, Eric Canfield.
