She's on a roll, she's having a ball, she's knocking them down, she's winning it, she's rolling with it, she's.....in the gutter? How many bowling related terms can I come up with for this photo? Shannon is doing well today. Not every day can be as exciting as yesterday was, so don't feel the need to apologize for yawning through this update. She really is making great progress and rolling with whatever needs to be done.

Shannon woke up, had breakfast, and harassed her therapists (I know this because I watched it happen- the sassy is turned up to 10 now that she has a voice). She had all of her therapy's today. It all seemed pretty normal in the update I got from Renid, but apparently she wasn't present for all the action.

Shannon told me she sat in the wheel chair for a while during PT, and her blood pressure plummeted, so they laid her back and it didn't help, and so they sat her up and it dropped more, so they laid her back, and it didn't help, so they put her in bed. Then she was surrounded by a ton of people who were trying to fix the problem and they tried to call the one and only doctor of hers that was there, but they couldn't find him. Her blood pressure apparently returned to her normal low, and she was fine. Now they are giving her more of the BP medication to try and keep it in check.

I told her she's just bored and was looking for attention. She probably dropped her BP just to get some excitement in her life. She said she's not talented enough to control her blood pressure like that.

Later in the evening, I got an text message from Shannon that said for me to call someone at the hospital ASAP because she needed her trach suctioned and her call button was out of reach. Of course that happened while I was on a telemedicine call for one of my other kids. Rachael called and got someone in there. Shannon told Rachael afterward that the nurse didn't feel any urgency in the situation, which just frustrated her more.

Her blood pressure and her breathing are the only things that make me worry about Shannon. Nothing else going on with her is life threatening, and for the most part they are stable- but today was a double whammy. I truly do not like the nursing staff on her floor, and we are working on resolving the issues with them.

In Rec therapy today, she played Bananagrams, and for Art Therapy she picked out a picture of Toothless to paint the next time they meet. She also learned how to shimmy her pants up her sleeping legs today with minimal help in Occupational Therapy.

BUT her favorite therapy today was this one:

She needed a Hero today. And now that her voice is back, I'm sure she sat their quoting the entire movie while it played! Hercules has always been Shannon's self-therapy.

Today is Shannon's three week mark at Magee. If her doctors have their way, she will be there for five more, but they will have to convince the insurance company that she needs it. It's been five and a half weeks since the accident, and this week I was blown away with how many people have reached out to let us know they are praying for Shannon, and for us, and that they want to help somehow. The prayers really are the best way to help- and reaching out to Shannon so she's not feeling alone. Thank you for sticking with us, with Shannon. It means so much!

Please pray for Shannon to continue to progress with her breathing and speech so she can have her trach removed, for her spinal cord to keep healing and to make connections again, for her core muscles to get stronger and more stable, for her to be able to get the rest she need and to have the endurance required for her therapies, and for her body to be able to stabilize her blood pressure. Thank you for your love and concern.

Meme:

I'm using the Disney Quote that Shannon sent me today- she said this is how she felt today-

Mushu: Did you see those Huns?! They popped out of the snow! Like Daisies!!
Mulan: Are you with me, or not?
Mushu: Let's go kick some Honeybuns!
