As of Thursday- ONE WEEK DOWN!! We made it through our first week with Shannon! Or rather, SHANNON, survived her first week home with us. One thing I have loved about Shannon this past week- which she also did at the hospital: constant reassurance that we are doing a good job. It’s not at all unlikely to have her say ‘thanks mom (or whomever is helping her), you are doing great!’ ‘I appreciate you’, you are doing fantastic!’ It really helps when we feel like we are doing things very, very inadequately.  She’s unbelievably positive amongst all this chaos. It’s a blessing for all of us.

Yesterday was so fantastic!! Shannon wanted to venture out into the world- and experience all this pandemic hoopla she keeps hearing about! So we went to Mod Pizza- where we did ‘take out only’.  Shannon has been wanted us to go there since they opened! But then she left for college, and we didn’t make for there. I highly recommend it!

We headed over to Michael’s....and that’s when I realized we left the cushion seat for her wheelchair home. {face palm} I had helped Shannon into the car, then changed then needed to make an adjustment to the cover, and proceeded to leave it on the porch. So we headed home to get it and went back out!

Next was Kiwi for Frozen yogurt- curbside pick up....

We also stopped at Target on the way home. Shannon saw some previous coworker there and didn’t want to talk to him. She was pretty nervous he would recognize her. Doubtful. She was wearing a mask, has shorter hair, and is in a wheelchair. Incognito.

It was a lot to do in one day for our first adventure out! I absolutely hate Shannon’s loaner wheelchair which makes it super impossible to help her get in and out of the car if you happen to have legs, and arms that are less than 5 feet long. Just, nope. Add to that the fact that we still don’t have her placard for parking in the disabled spots- so I was THAT person. You know the one who parks in two spaces?  I’m rethinking my judging people on this matter. From now on, I’ll assume they need to help some with a wheelchair....just maybe not the  convertible mini taking up three spaces...

It was 100% time for a long nap when we finally got home. And then Shannon hosted ‘Art with Shannon’ night. :D

So it was a pretty fun day- that ended at 1am. We are feeling it! So tired!!!

We are so grateful that so many of you are still praying for Shannon. We love that you are still keeping her in your thoughts and cheering her on! Please pray for her to continue to get stronger, for her blood pressure to improve and become normal, and for her spinal cord will heal.
