Our college girl was FaceTiming with Lancer one night, and he was having a bit of fun with the filters. Many of you may not have ever seen Lancer with hair. I have never known his hair to be this luxurious. Shannon's, yes. Lancer's, never. I prefer him without hair though, so it works out perfectly. Lancer's daddy heart hurt when he couldn't take Shannon out to school, and he kept in close contact with her while she was there. The fun part of this photo is that it was taken on March 4th of this year. Shannon remembers having the conversation with him. She doesn't remember details, but the photo and having the call are all there. THAT means, her window of memory is closing in a bit more! March 4- April 5th or so. The first week of April is still really spotty in the memory area.
Today was a fun day! It had to fun, because it started like THIS>>>>>
Lancer and the boys (men, Dad Dudes...my current favorite people on earth beyond my family) worked super hard to get the bathroom to the point that she could shower this morning. It's not finished completely, BUT, it's done enough to shower in. After she was done washing up, she sat for 5 minutes just letting the shower beat down on her, something she couldn't do at the hospital because the nurses had places to go and patients to see.
This is your little sneak peak of the space. but we aren't sharing more details. Yet. PS. I cannot WAIT for her rolling shower chair to arrive. Life will be so much easier for all of us.
Shannon wears comfy, easy-to-transfer-in clothing, at present. Seeing as though it was a Sunday, we chose her most Sunday T-shirt. :) The physical therapist came today to set up Shannon's home PT for the next month. She was fantastic. She asked Shannon what her goals are for therapy, and since one of the biggest concerns we've all had is safe transfers to the stair lift, she watched us do a transfer and gave us some tips on how to make it go more smoothly. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with helping her now.

Blood pressure is still something Shannon is struggling with. Her loaner wheelchair isn't able to tilt back far enough on its own, so the method to make that happen is tilting her back on your lap while you sit. She thought it was rather comfortable.
The celebratory dinner of choice (not at all surprising) was Steak Salad. It's the favorite around here. The Bassett family came over to spend the afternoon with Shannon (and us).
The nephew loves riding with Shannon AND pushing her wheelchair around. He's so adorable with Shannon. He and the nieces love to play in her chair when she's sitting on the sofa or in bed. She's going to be fighting them for it!
After dinner, Lancer made snowballs for everyone. Watermelon with marshmallow topping and nerds is still my favorite, but it looks like blue raspberry is the favorite for most of the fam.
Things are settling in a bit. If nothing else, we are learning what not to do, and coming up with ideas of how we might improve things. Tomorrow will be a little bit better, and we will figure out a routine that doesn't require much thought.
Please pray for Shannon's temperature and blood pressure to continue to improve and stabilize, for her to be positive and patient with herself and us, and for her spinal cord to heal.
Thank you for you prayers and love.
