One of the things I love the most about Shannon is that she loves her daddy. And of course the feeling is mutual. They have a great bond and it's so cute to hear her call him daddy still. She comes to him with all her gospel related questions, and advice about boys. I just love them together.

When Shannon was a little girl, Lancer used to say that Shannon had him so wrapped around her finger she could get away with anything- sometimes she did. But he has always been super protective of her. He never wanted any boys near her, so he told her he would give her $1000 if she didn't kiss a boy until she was at least 18 year old. When he saw that she liked a boy, he would remind her. He would say things like "just think about it Shannon.. is that boy's kiss a $1000 kiss?" Shannon became $1000 richer when she turned 18.

It's hard on a daddy heart to see his little girl struggling, and I am anxious for Shannon to be home where she can be with him and the rest of us every day and not be so alone- not feel so isolated. He's already making plans for making her favorite dinners and spending lots of time with her. She will get home a week or so before Father's Day, and that will be all the gift he needs. He's a  sensitive guy, and he needs to have his family close where he can make sure they are safe.

Since today is Sunday, we haven't been doing any work on the house. It's a wonderful break. I went with my brother Steve on a drive out toward Lancaster today so he could see some of PA. He's been here for a week and a half and all he has seen is our house- mostly the basement, and the drive to and from Home Depot or Lowes. It was great to spend time with him and just go on a drive to chat about things unrelated to sheetrock and plumbing.

Today Shannon had occupational therapy, which was mainly practicing dressing. She also worked on her current art project- which of course is top secret currently.

There is talk of perhaps not having a trach sometime in the near future, so please pray that the doctors will find that Shannon is doing well enough with her respiratory that she won't need it anymore. Pray for her continued progress in strength and endurance, and to be strong mentally and emotionally as she works hard to meet the goals they have for her to be able to come home. Thank you so much for your love and support.

Today's Meme:

Disney has the parental response to teenage love pegged:

Ariel: "but daddy I love him!"
King Triton: "Have you lost senses completely?! He's a human, you're a mermaid!!"

(and I have a feeling he was all onboard with flotsam and jetsam knocking them out of the boat during the "kiss the girl" musical number....$1000 well spent to pay them off)
