Lancer is a Jack of all trades kind of guy. One of his hobbies is Djing. He happily DJ's dances for our church youth, and has always had one of the kids help him out. Shannon absolutely loved helping him, and eventually, she was doing it herself. She LOVES her music. Music is a super important part of her life.
Today, the music therapist FINALLY returned to Magee, and his first patient to see was Shannon. They talked about music, she showed him her Ukulele, and he had her practice her singing voice. She's really excited about working with him on the music front.
Shannon also continued her work on her violent art project. It was supposed to be finished, but apparently they decided to add something to it, so you're just gonna have to wait another hot minute for the reveal. And story.
It was a beautiful day today- and while I spent it sorting through things to drop off at Goodwill to make room for Miss Shannon's new room- Shannon was busy working on her tan, apparently.
Shannon also practiced transferring from the power chair to her manual chair.
Because the cough Shannon has is keeping her trach from being removed, and the congestion doesn't seem to be improving, her docs decided to give her something to thin out the mucus in her lungs and throat. Hopefully she will be able to clear things on her and won't need her throat suctioned anymore and she can be trach-free. Meanwhile, she sound like she's hacking up a lung or has piece of ribeye stuck in her throat. She coughs, sputters, mutters that she's fine and not dying (she promises) and then clears her throat and continues with conversation. And heaven forbid you make her laugh during a coughing spell- she really does look like she's not going to survive it. No humor allowed.
She was too tired to really do much in her last therapy today. Apparently, she was supposed to do some arm exercises, but didn't have the energy for it after all the other things she had worked on earlier.
Please prayer for Shannon to be able to clear her airways on her own so she can have the trach removed, for her to see her own improvements and be patient with herself, for her blood pressure to continue it's improvement, and for her spinal cord to heal. Shannon told me today she can truly feel the love and support, and especially the answered prayers that are being offered on her behalf. Please keep them coming.
It's a super frustrating time to be an earthling. I know most of us are ready to get our lives back to normal. I have not idea what normal will look like anymore, but I know the best way to overcome all of this crazy time is to find what we need to learn, and to help others on the way. I can't imagine what my life would look like right now if I didn't know that I am being watched over by our Father in Heaven. That knowledge alone is what gives me the peace I need to take on each challenging day.
