What would life be like to be the fourth of five sisters? Shannon knows. She grew up being a princess-ninja-angel-mischief making-movie quoting-falls for anything-loves to fight dirty-would do anything for anyone-sassafras-book loving-Shannanagan- enigma. She's all that, and a bag of chips.
So today, when she FaceTimed me during art to show me she's working on a top secret violent activity that I HAVE TO GATHER ALL THE KIDS in the house to watch-- the mind reeled. What can you possibly be doing that is violent.... in art, AND okay to gather the kids for?
Well- unfortunately for all of you, it's currently Classified. So you'll have to tune in tomorrow for the details. But, I will tell you, it all started in speech therapy when she told her therapist she just wants to throw something. Her SP told her art therapist about it, and the next thing Shannon knew- *ALL* her throwing dreams were coming true. It was HILARIOUS.
Meanwhile- all of her nursing dreams were also coming true because Shannon had not one, but TWO of her favorite nurses today! She told me it was pretty fantastic and full of their regular banter back and forth. I'll try to get a video when I'm there this week of the smack talking, sassy banter that makes me want to pull up a chair and pop some corn.
In OT, she did more long sits and learning to sit up in bed so she can eventually transfer to her chair, and then in PT she tried to transfer from her power to manual chair; but her blood pressure had other plans- or rather no plans. It just decided to take a vacation altogether. So they played "let's see what position we can put Shannon in so she can have blood pumping through her body again". She plays that game almost every day, because she loves it so much. But today was extra special, because she got to see spots and spinning things. All the fun of a carnival without the clowns and cotton candy.
It's a great way to start the week!
I forgot to share this beautiful exchange yesterday between Shannon, her nieces, and Krisha. I took the first one, and Shannon sent me her view.
Huh? What? I didn't do anything. I didn't do that. Somebody's throwing stuff. You gonna build a fire or what?

And back here with the Home Skillet-We have finally figured out the bathroom tile!! You may now stand and applaud.
We are praying that this week is easier on Shannon than last week was. Please pray for her to stay positive and have the endurance she needs for therapies, that she will continue to progress quickly toward having her trach removed, that her core muscles will strengthen and become more responsive, and that her blood pressure will increase. We love you all, thank you for continuing to support and pray for Shannon.

The prayers continue daily! Our God is amazing and so is Shannon. Her attitude in the face of difficulty is something we should all aspire to. I will pray for strength, healing and perseverance. I trust God in and through all! Patti
